AS Roma have signed Norwegian international defender John Arne Riise from Liverpool for around £4million, the Serie A club said on Wednesday.
Riise has signed a four-year contract according to statement on the club's Web site (www.asroma.it).
The statement read: "AS Roma announce they have reached an agreement with Liverpool Football Club for the acquisition of the sporting rights of the player John Arne Riise with effectfrom July 1 2008."
The 27-year-old, who can also play on the left side of midfield, notched up over 300 appearances for Liverpool after moving to Anfield from Monaco in 2001.
He was part of the squad that won the Champions League final in 2005.

During a trophy-laden spell with the club he won one Champions League, an FA Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, a League Cup and two FA Charity Shields. He played 348 times, netting an impressive total of 31 goals before signing for Roma yesterday, almost seven years to the day he arrived at Anfield.
