SURELY, when the LFC team goes out tonight in the Emirates, they are the underdogs... againsts the supposedly-multi talented and superfast players of young Gunners. At least, that's how the London based newspapers are potraying them. And LFC is just a team that would distrupt the journey of Arsenal to regain its top spot.
Much of the speculation today I read, focus on the needs for Rafa to tinker and to use the 2nd team of LFC for fear of injury or another yellow card for the superplayer like Torres, Gerrard and Alonso. It has been quite awhile we didn't see Crouch play. Perhaps, some reports saying that he is on the verge of leaving can be understood and if its true he is leaving, we will miss Crouch in the sense that he does contributes in his own ways and the type of tactics that is not really popular (long balls) - even to me. But lets just wait and see if ever Crouch decided to go next June.
What I want to address today is the focus given to LFC. To me its weird and obnoxious. There is a case for Rafa not to use his best players with next Tuesday's game in mind. But to say the reason is because Rafa thought (or might have do so) that no.4 is now confirmed in the hands of LFC... sounds ludicrous. We are behind about 3 and a half games from the Arsenal (no.3 now). Does it merit to say that we already surrender the fight and accept that we can never break into top three? Hello. I hate pessimist. Remember that all the top three will be meeting each other in their last 6 games. What if Rafa maintain the teams performances until the last (starting with tonight's tough game against Arsenal) and who knows? We might even clinch the no.3 spot in the expense of either Arsenal or Chelsea. The morale of it is, tonight's game cannot be simply a game before The 2nd Leg Champions League fixture next Tuesday. Not a game that ought to be considered a distraction even. LFC must win tonight, or at least gain a point and it's all gonna be alright for its positioning in BCL.
We as the loyal supporters, demand the team to perform to their utmost tonight. It's okay if we only have Crouch and Voronin to front our attacks. hey... its not like that they are no hope. In fact, Crouch has been a proven scorer for us (before Torres emerged) and assisted the team into the final of Champions League last season. Remember?
