JAMIE CARRAGHER has warned Liverpool they cannot afford to lose any more ground on leaders Arsenal and Manchester United.
Rafa Benitez’s men travel to Blackburn tomorrow knowing defeat could see them nine points off the top.
Carragher said: “We want to be in there fighting with six or seven games to go.
“We had a great start but we have dipped a bit and it’s something we need to sort out.
“The Premier League, without doubt, is the priority.
“A lot of people question the manager on that because we’ve done well in the Champions League.
“But if you are nowhere in the league at Christmas it becomes the priority, the Champions League, if you’re still involved in it.
“But if we’re still in the Champions League and fighting for the title in February or March, the evidence will be there if we are prioritising the league more than that.”
Carra admits he is lucky he escapes the axe in Benitez’s rotation policy. The defender said: “I don’t think I’d like it too much if I was getting chopped and changed. Players want to play every week.
“Touch wood, I do that and hopefully that will continue.”
